With today’s technology, pencil sketched drawings should be a thing of the past. To that end, Laser Technology, Inc. has been in the forefront for nearly 20 years in providing the needs of law enforcement when it comes to speed measurement and pin-point measurement accuracy. At a crash or crime scene, you may only have one chance to get it right, because when you clear, you usually don’t have a chance to go back. Good or bad, the measurements you leave with, become evidence. This 4-day workshop is designed to introduce law enforcement officers to the practice of creating highly accurate and professionally replicated crash and crime scene diagrams for future courtroom presentations using the LTI Laser and a variety of different methods. The following subjects will be covered in a very active “hands-on” environment:
Requirements: A laptop computer is suggested for this course. A mouse for your laptop computer. *Operating system must be at least the following: Windows XP, 2000, or 98 SE. Pentium III or higher recommended. 32MB of memory, 64 MB recommended. 500 megs of free hard drive space. *The CAD Zone evaluation software (Pocket Zone and Crash Zone) can be provided if needed. If you have a laser mapping system, please bring it with you to class. Although not required, you are encouraged to bring a laptop computer with you. Traffic Safety Vest / Jacket is required. Recommended Equipment: The LTI Mapstar angle encoder system with data collector and download cables as well as a full access of the Crash Zone / Pocket Zone software is recommended but not required. This class has been approved for 18 ACTAR CEU's. Instructor: Michael Allard, is an 19-year police veteran of a department located in Massachusetts and has received numerous awards for service. As a member of that agency, he is their Highway Safety Officer and also performs vehicle and pedestrian collision analysis and reconstruction, latent print recovery, fingerprint classification and comparison, buccal DNA recovery, crime scene investigation, evidence collection and chief mapping and diagramming officer. His mapping and diagramming experience includes collision scene, crime scene and city planning. He is a certified CADZONE and LTI Quickmap Instructor and has taken his level of training and experience to the educating of municipal and state law enforcement officers. He joined the growing list of professional instructors for SRR Traffic Safety Consulting in 2005. In addition, in 2005, he was awarded a copyright for “The Equation Aid” a software program specifically designed for the collision investigator.
