The challenge to inspire today's police officers can be perplexing for any supervisor and/or administrator.  They do not have the luxury to give bonuses, provide perks or award promotionsIt has often been said, "The most unfair thing, is to treat unequals, equally."  So how is it accomplished?  This one day course covers numerous areas of opportunity and provides a format for those that wish to motivate their personnel and increase their morale.

Instructor: Chief Jody Kasper leads the Northampton, Massachusetts police department. She has been a police officer since 1996 with the same agency.

Chief Kasper has authored two books, Improving Motivation and Morale: A Police Leader's Guide and Progressive Police Supervision: A Simple & Effective Approach for Managing a Police Agency.  She has also written numerous articles for Law & Order, The Police Chief and Police Recruit on topics that focus on problem-solving and issues that can sometimes overwhelm and agency if not recognized and addressed in a timely manner. 


Beyond her duties at NPD, she is also an adjunct professor at Elms College where she teaches for both the Psychology and Sociology Departments. She also teaches in-service training and recruit classes for the Municipal Police Training Committee. She has undergraduate degrees in criminal justice and psychology and also a Masters degree in criminal justice and a second Masters in public administration and policy
