Vehicle EDRs and modern video surveillance cameras are recognized as primary sources of crash evidence. However, the need still exists to corroborate the data and information provided by these devices with technical crash analysis.

This course addresses several common crash scenarios and offers methodologies for effectively investigating and reconstructing such cases.

The one-day course will discuss the topics related to Pole and Tree Impacts, Rollover Crashes, Estimation of Occupant Seating Positions, and finally, Hit and Run Investigation Methods. The course is designed for crash investigators who wish to understand how to interpret physical evidence left at the crash scene for later use in a technical analysis. Recognizing, documenting and collecting forensic evidence is stressed. Formulas designed for calculating crash speeds will be also be discussed during the pole and rollover discussions.

Each attendee will receive a course manual, on a USB flash drive, authored by the instructor that will cover the various crash scenarios. Included will be pole crash example that will include step-by-step instructions on the use of the pole formulas that can be used as a guide for investigating such crashes in the future.
