Course Description:

A great deal of attention has been recently paid to the emotional well-being of law enforcement officers, yet one of the most critical chains in the overall law enforcement process is left behind. Communications Personnel are the first and primary contact that victims have with law enforcement, medical assistance and the fire service. In many instances it is the communicators who make the difference between life and death, yet they are left with only the crisis portion of the story. While officers see the end result, communicators are left without that closure and without it, a great emotional toll builds until finally, it erupts.

Emotional Survival for Communications Personnel will look at the hard facts of the job and provide tips and tools for dealing with the ‘those call’s’ that a dispatcher will relive for years. All emergency response personnel are at risk for emotional death and communicators are not an exception.

This one day course will bring the real world into the classroom and give your communicators the skills and the knowledge to recognize the signs of crisis within themselves and their co-workers and the intervention tools to help.
