The resolution of many crisis situations will hinge on what the first field supervisor on scene does, or does not do. Many field supervisors have never had training, nor have they even considered what actions that they will need to take in incidents that clearly exceed the norm. This course deals with the overall management of a crisis situation from both the tactical and strategic perspectives. This course will look at not only the immediate situational outcome of the decisions that must be made but will also look at the broader implications of those decisions from a management perspective.

Crisis Mangement for Field Supervisors will examine several critical situations and discuss the actions, or inactions of supervisors that were present at each incident. The course will not only discuss options for use during field level operations but will examine the broader implications of how those decisions may impact not only the agency involved but on law enforcement as a whole.

Students will take part in several mock situations to examine critical thinking and the overall ability of the student to adapt to changing situations.

Situations such as:

  • Vehicle Pursuits,
  • Officer Down,
  • Mass Protests/Riots,
  • Active Shooters ,
  • Hostage Situations,
  • School Takeovers,
  • Domestics

will be discussed and options for initial responding supervisors will be presented.

Who should attend this course:

Supervisors, patrol officers (OIC's), detectives, correctional officers, parole and probation officers, Federal, State and municipal law enforcement officers, and military personnel.
